Computational Modeling and Simulation Lab

At the Informatics Institute in Istanbul Technical University, we specialize in advancing the fields of biomechanics and cardiovascular medicine through cutting-edge computational research. Our team, which includes experts in computational fluid dynamics, cardiovascular mechanics, biomedical engineering and advanced simulation technologies, works to understand how vascular system operates. We collaborate closely with doctors and other medical professionals to ensure our research translates into real-world solutions that improve human health and medical technologies. Join us in exploring how our innovative work is shaping the future of biomedical engineering and cardiovascular biomechanics.

Interested in becoming part of our interdisciplinary research team? Join us to explore academic and research opportunities in computational biomechanics, AI-CFD, developing VR applications, modelling and simulation.

We are also currently seeking interns and volunteer undergraduate students who are eager to contribute to ongoing projects and gain hands-on research experience in a dynamic academic environment.

Volunteer Internship Opportunity on VR/XR Systems

by Computational Modeling and Simulation Lab | Jun 12, 2025
We are looking for a dedicated undergraduate volunteer to join our TÜBİTAK 1001-funded research project, focused on building cardiovascular hemodynamic model. This project combines computational modeling with cutting-edge VR/XR immersive environments and 3D bioprinting to support diagnosis, surgical planning, and medical training.

Who are we looking for?
A passionate undergraduate student who:
Has experience with Unity or Unreal Engine,
Knows or is willing to deepen knowledge in C# programming,
Is eager to contribute to the development of VR/XR-based medical environments,
Wants to gain hands-on research experience

You’ll help create an interactive VR/XR system that visualizes complex Computational Fluid Dynamics (CFD) and Fluid-Structure Interaction (FSI) results, simulates critical cardiovascular conditions like coronary stenosis, and allows virtual exploration of patient-specific anatomies.

Students who wish to apply should send their CV and transcript to both:

    – Prof. M. Serdar Çelebi (mscelebi@itu.edu.tr)
    – Computational Modeling and Simulation Lab (computinglab@itu.edu.tr)
